PJ Reaper writes psychologically driven fiction about desire,
choice, consequence, and the things people would rather leave buried.
His work moves between psychological thrillers, darker relationship stories, and emotionally intense fiction, but the questions underneath rarely change: what people want, what they choose, and what those choices leave behind.
He tends to write toward uncomfortable questions rather than neat answers.
Becoming Brian is his debut novel and the first book in The Becoming Trilogy.
PJ Reaper is a pen name. He keeps his private life separate from the work.
THE MARK
A labyrinth by design.
The three initials inside PJ Reaper's name form a labyrinth.
The inspiration began with Labyrinth, the 1986 Jim Henson film that never quite left him. But the mark isn’t an homage. It’s a map. One path circles back to where it began. Another passes through and leaves somewhere else. That idea mirrors the fiction: stories can return us to familiar places without returning us unchanged.
THE FIRST PATH
One path circles the “P” and
returns to where it began
It represents the story itself. Reaper's fiction may take the long way round, but nothing is there by accident. Follow the path. Circle the courtyard. Take in what the story gives you. Eventually, you'll find yourself back where you started. The place may be the same. His hope is that you aren't.
THE SECOND PATH
The other route passes between
the “R” and the “J”
It doesn't circle back. That path belongs to the reader after the story is over and to whatever remains after the final page. There are turns along the way, but only one way out. And near that exit, the “J” begins to narrow. Because some stories aren't meant to return you exactly as they found you.
THE JAGGED EDGE
And for those who noticed the jagged edge on the “J”
It’s easy to miss. At first, it just looks like part of the design. It isn’t. Everything else in the mark is clean and structured. The lines go where they’re supposed to go. The walls make sense. And then there’s that one edge that doesn’t quite belong.
That break is there because something in a PJ Reaper story is usually a little off, too. Something doesn’t fit. Something isn’t as perfect as it first looked. The break also leaves a small opening in the labyrinth, something can make it through. Hopefully, that’s the part of the story you take with you.
Not everything is supposed to stay inside the walls.
